I'm often asked about undercover operations. Many seem to glorify or even romanticize it, but undercover is an investigative technique that is never taken lightly. Deep undercover agents need loyal friends and a supportive family. It takes a person with special qualities to infiltrate on a long term basis - one with nerves of steel and a heavy dose of hutzpah. And the personal sacrifices are, as Jay Dobyns says, harrowing.
Since 1997 Donnie Brasco, has been a classic undercover tale. Now, there are two more books out, each with movie rights purchased.
