Are you writing Sci-Fi or non-fiction?  It's going to get harder to differentiate  - check out some recent advancements.

As seen in Harry Potter, here's an article about research for an Invisibility Cloak that will be able to hide whatever it's wrapped around.

Remember the Bionic Man's eye?  You won't even have to have surgery, because University of Washington has discovered a way to make bionic contact lenses to zoom in on distant things.  (Wow, that would be so sweet for surveillance.)

University of Washington is smokin' in other areas as well.  They have partnered with Harborview Burn Center in Seattle to create a Snow World virtual reality game for burn victims as they go through the painful therapy and recovery process.  Originally created for kids, they've now expanded it to injured soldiers returning home.  It's kind of like a mobile holodeck.
