OK, I admit I'm a gadget addict.  Kitchen gadgets, electronic gadgets -- I love them all.  This is probably one of my all time favorite gadgets I use for traveling.   Let me set the scene:

You've been traveling all day in a cramped airplane seat, dragging large heavy suitcases through the airport.  You check into a lovely hotel room, weary but need to do some typing.  However, that's okay, because the bed is inviting with its fluffy down comforter.  The couch also looks luscious with its big plush cushions.  But then you see it the dreaded blue data cord.  It's only 3 feet in length, just barely long enough to use at the desk.  So you diligently type at the desk resenting that you can't use the comforts of your hotel room.  Sound familiar?

If so, you will love this gadget.  All you do is plug that blue phone cord into this box, and it makes your internet access wireless for your room.  Now you can go sit on the couch or cuddle in bed with your laptop.  You are free from the blue data cord!

This is a gadget from the Museum of Useful Things, where I discovered measuring tape tape that I use on my craft table.  I haven't tried the Thumb Thing yet...it is either simplistically clever or incredibly stupid.  Here's the description.  What do you think?

Holding a book was never easier: place your thumb in the ring and the ring in the gutter of the book. The Thumb Thing’s wings hold the pages open, reducing hand strain and fatigue, as well as freeing your other hand for taking notes or holding a glass of iced tea. The Thumb Thing doubles as a bookmark when not in use. Plastic, sized for thumbs: S,M,L,XL.

Thumb Thing is $4 from MUT
