Wow, I'm kicking myself for not using Windows Live Writer sooner.  It allows you to write your blog once, then Live Writer will automatically insert everywhere you have a blog -- your web site, My Space, Face Book, virtually anywhere!  So no more cutting and pasting.  No more losing intended URLs for your links.   No more repetition posting your blog five times.   Just write it once, and ZAP, it's done.

So what else is cool about it?  You can save your blog drafts.  I admit I've been keeping my drafts in Word and often forget what I named it.  It's all saved within Live Writer in the side bar.  Also, you can be offline while working in Live Writer.  You only need to be connected to the internet when you are ready to publish/post your blog.

You can insert any media into Live Writer, including: hyperlinks, pictures, tables, maps, tags and videos.  It also allows you to set categories and publish dates.

Work ahead on your blogs.  I like to take time to do research for my blogs, so for blogs that aren't time sensitive, wouldn't it be nice to devote a couple hours to write a few, so you can just pop in and post them when convenient?

Correct errors or update previous blogs.  Live Writer will pull them up for you to modify and then repost back in the same spot.

And the coolest thing about Live Writer? It's free!  Just download it at http://get.live.com/

A technical note:  All the settings for the most common U.S. social networks are pre-programmed in Live Writer, but for your own web site, you will need to know your blog's API - ask your web host.

Here's a screenshot of my Live Writer - on the right column are my most recent posts.  Also, the draft of my next blog is on deck for the Federal Air Marshals -- when it's ready, I just click "publish."
