The MQ-1 Predator is an unmanned, armed aircraft, primarily used for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.  They are often called an Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). The "M" means it has a multi-purpose role, the "Q" means it's unmanned and the "1" indicates it's the first of the series.  The crew flies it from a remote ground control station.

It can be packed up and shipped on a C-130 aircraft and shipped anywhere in the world, including in theater in Iraq.Predator
